"Partnering with Empower Somerset on the School Health NJ grant has helped our school focus on staff and student wellness, while also helping build school culture. We realized we have a lot of support services for our students but needed to provide more for our staff. The grant has allowed us to focus on staff wellness as we are now moving into more schoolwide staff and student activities and school culture."

Union City High School

"Thanks to the North Region Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) grantee, The Center for Prevention and Counseling, Union City High School’s School-Based Hiking Club is thriving! We have benefitted in numerous ways from the grant we received. Not only does the grant provide financial support for our monthly hiking trips, but it sustains our students' mental health by giving us the tools to incorporate a wellness plan into the lives of our students. We are fortunate to have continued support in continuing to implement ways to keep our students on the right track, both mentally and physically."

Hammonton High School

"Implementing wellness initiatives and team-building activities in schools is vital for creating a nurturing, efficient, and dynamic educational environment. At Hammonton High School, we work to find ways such as in-service days and Family Game Nights to not only improve the physical and mental well-being of students and staff but also enhance their social, emotional, and professional capabilities. By investing in the wellness of the school community, we pave the way for a brighter, healthier, and more successful future for all."

Buena Regional Middle School

"Working with AtlantiCare/DOH over the past 2 years has allowed BRMS staff to reconnect after the many effects of COVID and the isolation that occurred emotionally, socially and physically. We were able to create a Zen Den to improve staff morale as well as bring needed awareness to not only students but staff as well. We have been able to strengthen our relationships with our Buena community by hosting farm to table events, wellness events that highlight local businesses and resources and finally the many in-house events that spotlight the attendance and SEL initiatives that we continue to improve on."

Lindenwold High School

"The Lindenwold Public Schools community is incredibly grateful for the opportunities made possible through the AtlantiCare and DOH grant. Thanks to this generous support, we’ve been able to enhance the wellness experiences of our students and staff by providing options such as a community 5K event, yoga classes, and fresh fruits and vegetables.  AtlantiCare’s continued partnership has been instrumental in promoting health and wellness throughout our district, and we look forward to building on this success."

During the two years that Memorial Middle School has participated in the AtlantiCare school health grant wellness program changes in physical and mental health of both employees and students have taken place in many different ways- for the better.
The Meal Prep Series helped our staff with healthy meal ideas. Teacher Mrs. Patricia Gibbs stated,” I liked the format, the timely way they let u know the shopping list to be prepared, the presenter was easy to follow and even gave suggestions to trade ingredients out for various reasons". It is clear that our partnership with AtlantiCare  has elevated the physical and mental health of our students and staff at our school .
